Terrain: Two designated ski hills (“Little Hill” and “Big Hill”) serviced by two rope tows

Elevation: 1,200 feet; approximately 400 feet vertical drop

Best time to go: Late November through early April, and after fresh snowfall

Operating days and hours: During the regular season, Leavenworth Ski Hill operates Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Extended hours are offered through the holiday season, weather permitting.

How to get there: Heading west from Wenatchee on Highway 2, drive into the town of Leavenworth. Turn right onto Ski Hill Drive, and drive north 1.4 miles to the Leavenworth Ski Hill parking lot. Street address is 10701 Ski Hill Drive, Leavenworth.

Highlights: The Leavenworth Ski Hill is a fantastic place to learn to ski, and is a great choice for affordable skiing for a whole family. Ski Hill also offers the only ski jump on the West Coast. Ski jumping is available on the weekends, with a 15-meter jump for beginners and a 27-meter jump for advanced folks. Schedule an appointment with a coach to learn how to ski jump.

Lowlights: Rope tow ropes are known to take a toll on winter gloves so don’t wear your best pair.

Things to know: Lift ticket required. Food and beverages, accompanied by a warm fire, are available in the historic Ski Hill Lodge. Group and private ski lessons are offered on the weekends. Ski equipment rental can be found at local retailers in Leavenworth and Wenatchee.
