Description: These are big burly trails in the vicinity of the Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort in central Washington state. The GranDuro mountain bike race on June 25, 2016, features a big 47-mile loop — perfect for your favorite all-around bike — with a total elevation gain of 9,000 feet. Trails to be utilized include Pipeline, Beehive, Devil’s Spur, Mission Ridge, Devil’s Gulch and Red Devil. The trail run on June 25 is 15 miles long and over beautiful high mountain single-track trails, including Pipeline, Mission Ridge, Devil’s Spur.
As for GrandDuro, organizers say they’ve ridden every type of mountain bike on these trails and wouldn’t pass up any chance to ride this loop no matter which bike option they had. The intent is to offer the best combination of trails, vistas and terrain for the ultimate ride and/or run.
The field limit for both the bike race and trail run is 200 participants each.
Views and features: You are in the North Cascades — ’nuff said. Well, actually there is more to say: In mid-June, the area is full of wildflowers and greenness. Temperatures are typically in the 40s and 50s in the morning, climbing into the high-60s and 70s by mid-afternoon.
Premiums: Commemorative t-shirt for those who register by May 17 (note: pre-registration required for the event), finishers awards, post-ride meal, special awards for the fast folks and quite possibly the slow folks and even some folks in between.
