Quote: “The shuttle took runners 11 miles up a forest road into the mountains. I didn’t have a camera on me but the first 11 miles were absolutely gorgeous — through the mountains along a beautiful river into the town of Leavenworth where the second half started.” — Three Gillettes blog
Description: The marathon course begins deep in the Cascades alongside legendary Icicle Creek and travels downhill toward the city of Leavenworth. At about the half-way point, the course emerges on the valley floor and then follows a loop through the Bavarian Village and along wooded riverfront trails, before ending at the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery. The half-marathon is nearly identical to the last part of the full marathon, and also sends at the Fish Hatchery.
Views and features: These are stunningly scenic courses. The Cascade Mountain rise straight up from the valley floor, and Icicle Creek and the Wenatchee River are among the most beautiful waterways in the state.
