Description: These half-marathon, 12K and 5-mile runs take place on well-maintained trails at the stunning Horse Lake Reserve, which is owned and managed by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. The 1,700-acre reserve is located just a few miles northwest of the city of Wenatchee in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The event is put on by RunWenatchee as a fundraiser for the Land Trust.
Views and features: Wildflowers abound as runners travel the trails on this majestic property in the Wenatchee Foothills. Depending on the particular location, views of the North Cascades, the Wenatchee River Valley and the Columbia River await. The Horse Lake Reserve is a former working ranch, so remnants of that past life dot the landscape as well.
Start time: 8:30 a.m. on May 1, 2016, for the half-marathon trail run; and 9 a.m. on May 1, 2016, for the 12K and 5-mile trail runs.
Start lines: Old Barn Road, Horse Lake Reserve
Finish: Horse Lake Trailhead, Horse Lake Reserve
Parking: Parking is extremely limited at Horse Lake, so participants are strongly encouraged to take advantage of a shuttle service provided by one of the event sponsors, the Mission Ridge Ski Team. The shuttles leave from the Wal-Mart parking lot, 2000 N. Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee, at 7:15 a.m. May 1, 2016.
Essentials: Fully staffed and supplied aid stations are located on the courses. Stations will have water, energy drink and gels. Runners are encouraged to bring hydration packs/water bottles and or energy food to carry since springtime can be warm.
Stewardship: Leave no trace. Be kind to our beautiful environment and clean up after yourself. Please don’t abandon trash.
