Icicle Creek

Photo By Leavenworth Winter Sports Club

Terrain: Three kilometers of trail; mostly flat with some gentle rolling hills

Elevation: Approximately 1,100 feet

Best time to go: As early as late November through late February or early March, depending on snowfall

Operating days and hours: Trail office is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

How to get there: Heading west from Wenatchee on Highway 2, drive through the town of Leavenworth. At the far edge of town, turn left onto Icicle Creek Road. Follow Icicle Creek Road and watch for signs to the hatchery; it will be on your left.

Highlights: The Snowshoe Adventure Trail at Icicle Creek meanders through the same beautiful area as the skate skiing and cross-country ski trails near the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery. Cross open meadows with expansive views, snowshoe through the woodsy forest and get up close and personal with Icicle Creek while enjoying the peaceful sport of snowshoeing.

Lowlights: The Icicle Creek ski trail is a very popular destination for skate skiing and cross-country skiing, so plan on sharing the parking lot with plenty of others. As with all winter sports, trail and snow conditions are weather dependent.

Things to know: Snowshoeing is free, thus does not require a trail pass. Snowshoeing is not allowed on the groomed ski trails so please respect that and stay off of them. The snowshoe trail is marked and is maintained through the snowshoe prints made by you and others.
