Tour de Beer will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in downtown Wenatchee. There will be four outdoor beer gardens, each located along or near the Tour de Bloom criterium cycling course.
The beer gardens will be located at Memorial Park, at the corner of Wenatchee Avenue and Orondo Avenue, and on Wenatchee Avenue between Palouse and First streets. Each will feature local and regional craft beers, including ones from Icicle Brewing and Iron Horse Brewing.
The cycling races will take place from 2:30 to 9 p.m. that day. In addition, AdventureWenatchee will be putting on the first-ever Wenatchee Urban Mile Run during a break in action Saturday evening during the criterium.
Officials with the Wenatchee Valley Velo Club, which puts on the annual cycling races, believes Tour de Beer will add another element to the overall experience of spectators.
“People can enjoy a craft beer or two, get some food at the Apple Blossom Festival’s Food Court, and socialize with friends and family in an incredible setting,” says Ace Bollinger, race director of Tour de Bloom. “We see it as an outstanding way to cap the nearly two-week run of the Apple Blossom Festival and to bring more people downtown.”
Both Tour de Beer and Tour de Bloom are held in conjunction with the community’s Apple Blossom Festival. Earlier in the day, the festival’s Grand Parade will take place in downtown.
